Facilities Support

IBB’s main facility is the Petit Biotechnology Building located on the BioQuad on Georgia Tech’s campus at 315 Ferst Dr. NW, Atlanta, GA 30332. This four-story building houses research wings, core facilities, meeting and event space, and Bob’s Café. Our facilities team supports door access requests, maintenance issues, recycling and composting, and more.

Requesting Access

Before requesting access to the building, core lab access, or office keys, you must complete the following steps.

Access may take up to one week to be granted after completion of these steps. GT credentials are required to submit access request forms.

Petit Biotechnology Building

  • For facilities or maintenance requests in the Petit Biotechnology Building (IBB), contact the facilities manager.
  • For after-hours emergency issues (i.e., water leaks, door not locking, etc.), immediately notify Georgia Tech Police Department at 404-894-2500.

Krone Engineered Biosystems Building

  • For IBB Core Facility issues in the Krone Engineered Biosystems Building (950 Atlantic Drive), email the EBB team.
  • For after-hours emergency issues (i.e., water leaks, door not locking, etc.), immediately notify Georgia Tech Police Department at 404-894-2500.

Conference Room Reservations

Conference room descriptions and technology available in each room are listed on the instructions page linked below. Rooms will automatically be reserved (no additional approvals needed) if the space is available.

Faculty HotSpot Office Reservations

To request short-term office space in IBB room 3302, review the Faculty HotSpot Office Calendar for availability and submit a reservation request. Reservation requests will show as "awaiting approval" until reviewed by IBB staff. A minimum of two business days is required for space requests.

Posting Flyers

Flyers must pertain to events and topics directly related to bioengineering and bioscience.

  • All inquiries must be submitted to connect@ibb.gatech.edu for approval prior to posting.
  • Flyers may only be posted in the following designated areas: the atrium flyer stand, outside restrooms, or by the water fountains.
  • Flyers should not be larger than 8.5 x 11 inches in portrait format and must adhere to GT Brand Standards.
  • Content must be appropriate and adhere to GT Freedom of Expression Policies.
  • Only one flyer per event/issue/topic may be posted on any applicable designated area. Repetitive postings will be removed.
  • Flyers that refer to dated events will be removed after passage of the relevant event date. IBB reserves the right to temporarily remove flyers on occasions when preparing for major events or subsequent space reservation.
  • Posting (inclusive of, but not limited to, flyers, banners, posters, signs, or similar) is impermissible on sidewalks, streets, building exteriors, bannisters, railings, benches, light poles, bike racks, windows, doors, landscaping, horizontal surfaces, or other unapproved surfaces and spaces. Water-soluble chalk may be used on uncovered sidewalks that are exposed to the elements.

Lab Coat Washer and Dryer

Stop by IBB Room 3332 and use our Speed Queen Washer and Dryer and get those lab coats fresh and clean. 

  1. Visit SUMS to register. 
  2. Join a SUMS billing group. 
  3. Go to the “Decontamination and Sterilization” Equipment Group and review the operating instructions for both the washer and dryer. Once you complete the review, you will have access. 
  4. Log into the queue and log off after your session. 
  5. Contact washer-dryer@ibb.gatech.edu if you have any questions.
