Named Biotechnology Faculty Chairs from $1,500,000
The presence of eminent scholars working on the leading edge of bioengineering and biosciences will attract outstanding students, stimulate innovative research and teaching, provide mentors for young faculty, and make the Parker H. Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience a magnet for research funds from private industry and the federal government.
Named Junior Faculty Professorships from $750,000
Due to its strong reputation, Georgia Tech is able to attract top quality young professors. In time these professors become well-known around the world. Therefore, retention of these junior faculty professors becomes a major issue. A top priority of the Parker H. Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience is to award a prestigious professorship to those young faculty members who are rising stars in their fields.
Named Graduate Fellowships from $400,000
Competition among universities for the brightest graduate students is very keen, and financial incentives often make the difference in where they choose to go. The ability to attract graduate students with exceptional academic records and leadership skills is important. Their talents help to elevate an academic program, and their future achievements will reflect well on the program that gave them their start.
Named Undergraduate Research Scholarships from $25,000
The Petit Undergraduate Research Scholars program is a competitive program for rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors enrolled at Georgia Institute of Technology, Emory University, Morehouse College, and other metro Atlanta universities. This program targets students majoring in engineering or the sciences with an interest in bioengineering and/or bioscience research. This program affords the top undergraduates to conduct research for a full year in state-of-art research facilities under the director mentorship of a graduate student and faculty member. This program often shapes the future of the students, giving them their first taste of research.
