Andrew P. Shaw, MS joined the core in 2010 and is the Laboratory Manager of the Microscopy and Microanalysis Core at the Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience. He began his career studying visual processing and microscopic study of the visual system. He then eventually developed a general interest in microscopy, biophotonics and laboratory instrumentation. He has 25 years of experience in immunolabeling procedures, the operation of various types of microscopes – widefield, confocal, multiphoton, deconvolution and electron microscopes – as well as other biophotonic equipment. At Georgia Tech, he is involved in the training of users of the core facility and is available to core users for hands-on support and consultation.
